The Most Complete Starter Kit with High Quality Components and Tutorial

The most essential parts in this kit are MEGA controller board and expansion board, which is a clone with excellent product finish Compatible with Arduino projects. Besides, we offer other over 60 kinds of components and sensors from small parts like LED diodes, resistors and potentiometer to big parts like LCD1602, RFID module and 830 tie-points breadboard, which meet your demands for your different projects either it is simple or complex.

Pins and wires on some of the parts like LCD16502 and motors have been pre-soldered which is very convenient and saves your time.
LCD1602 Display module
LCD1602 module is a display that has an LED backlight and can display two rows with up to 16 characters on each row. You can see the rectangles for each character on the display and the pixels that make up each character. The display is just white on blue and is intended for showing text.
Lining up the display with the top of the breadboard helps to identify its pins without too much counting, especially if the breadboard has its rows numbered with row 1 as the top row of the board. Do not forget, the long yellow lead that links the slider of the pot to pin 3 of the display. The ‘pot’ is used to control the contrast of the display.
DC Motors and L293D Transistor
In this project you will learn how to control a small DC motor using a Mega board and a L293D transistor, which is a very useful chip. It can actually control two motors independently. We are just using half the chip in this lesson, most of the pins on the right hand side of the chip are for controlling a second motor.
L293D is quadruple high-current half-H drivers and designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 1 A at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V. The L293D is also designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 600-mA at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V and drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, dc and bipolar stepping motors, as well as other high-current/high-voltage loads in positive-supply applications.
74HC595 Shift Register and LEDs
74HC595 is a Serial to Parallel Converter which has eight outputs and three inputs that you use to feed data into it a bit at a time. This chip makes it a little slower to drive the LEDs (you can only change the LEDs about 500,000 times a second instead of 8,000,000 a second) but it’s still really fast, way faster than humans can detect, so it’s worth it!
74HC595 shift register is a type of chip that holds what can be thought of as eight memory locations, each of which can either be a 1 or a 0. To set each of these values on or off, we feed in the data using the ‘Data’ and ‘Clock’ pins of the chip.

Nice Mega Starter Kit
An awesome kit for anybody interested in electronics or the Arduino. The specialized components (displays, sensors, modules) are all solidly built and the smaller components that I have used all worked fine.The Arduino programs pretty easily and is easy to connect to your PC or laptop with no hassles.All of the wiring in the kit (jumpers,, etc) worked well on the 5 or 6 projects I have done so far on the kit.Who is this kit for? Anybody interested in STEM at a beginner level.The value for what you get in this kit is pretty awesome too.

I was up and running in 8 minutes. Most comprehensive kit.
I rarely give feedback on products and even more rarely give them 5 stars. This is a comprehensive starter kit at a very competitive price. I also bought the separate 37 sensor kit. There are so many gadgets in both these kits it will take me months to get through all of them. Yes, there are some misspelled words and other minor issues, but I think the company really put their heart into assembling a great product. And they freely give their contact information out in many places and want you to contact them with issues.Some other complaints are around getting started and using the product with the instructions provided. I was able to install everything and control an LED light with sample code in 8 minutes, not kidding. But you have to realize this is not a kids toy, these are real engineering components here. Its up to you to learn, problem solve and create what you want from the components as opposed to being a step by step kit. That’s the whole fun of it. Those with a technical or engineering background will be at an enormous advantage.You must learn how to program using C code and research how the components work. For example, I was unable to get the stepper motor to work from this kit with the example stepper motor code that comes with Arduino IDE. But that’s because the example code is for a different stepper motor and there are many different kits out there with different types of stepper motors. I took me two hours to learn about stepper motors and was able to write my own code to control it. I’m lucky to have an engineering background with a little bit of C code experience so I could see someone taking much longer to figure out the stepper motor issue or giving up completely. If you really want to learn Arduino, you can. Be patient, buy books like Programming Arduino by Simon Monk, browse forums, watch YouTube tutorials, etc.So I’ll summarize by saying that this is a great product and ships as advertised. I suspect many frustrations are because this is a fairly advanced kit and not a toy. Thank you for reading my review and good luck.UPDATE: I spent more time going through the sample code provided by Elegoo and the stepper motor code they provided works perfect. My comments above were based on my grabbing the code that comes with Arduino IDE which was incompatible. Again, I think the kit is great. Probably most negative feedback coming from misunderstanding how to use everything.

ELEGOO Mega R3 Project Kit with 37 in 1 Sensor Kit
The product was a gift for my grandson 300 miles away so I haven’t had “hands on” experience yet. I did evaluate the build quality before wrapping and I was impressed. As an EE design engineer with 50 years experience, I notice things like the quality of solder joints, mechanical structure, and overall concept. All good. The number and variety of modules was also good.The only disappointment so far was the advertised data CD was not included. The excuse (just that!) was to minimize landfill waste. I spent hours finding and downloading the documentation on a website organized around 3D printers! A minor complaint but unnecessary.Overall, I would certainly recommend this product for interested teenagers.

This was a Very Cool, and Fun Electronics Kit that gives an Introduction to the Arduino Process Controller. Everything was Very Well Packaged, in New “Unused” Condition. All of the components come with an ID Card inside of the plastic compartmentalized carrying case. In addition to the Arduino with the Mega2560 Chip, were a host of project items such as LEDs, Resistors, Motors, Jumpers, and a Nice assortment of Sensors. From Motion, to Temperature, to Light Output. The DC Motor, Servo, and the Stepper Motor added an extra touch to the overall enjoyment. I quickly found myself updating the software code (for my own pleasure) for the Stepper Motor and Driver, and have had considerable enjoyment of there use. Elegoo has included a Great Companion CD filled with an Illustrated Guide to Experiments and Coding for the Arduino. The pictures included in the CD really help guide you through the electrical connections for the experiments, to make sure sure you get everything right. Keep in mind that this is an introductory type kit, the beginning learning of Programmable Controllers and Electronics, and how they mix and associate. I am planning on purchasing a few more of these kits for my young relatives that are exploring the world of STEM Learning through their schools. Elegoo has put together a Very Nice Kit with more than an attractive price, and Great Quality. I am really amazed at how will a number of the Amazon Vendors deliver their products for such reasonable pricing with such great delivery of packaging and goods received. The information on the Amazon Site should make it very easy to select Elegoo for as more than just a consideration for the products that they sell. In closing I would like to convey that I have not received any compensation for this review, or for any of the products that I have purchased from Elegoo which include the above mentioned kit and other electronic items. For myself this kit was a great find and great pick.

This was my first foray into anything Arduino and I’m more than happy that I went with Elegoo!The kit came with everything advertised, all the online documentation was fairly updated and easy to understand with some patience and I was able to go through all the examples while learning how everything works.Some of the examples could have a little more explanation for beginners but I was easily able to find YouTube videos that helped with most of my questions.Overall this kit helped me learn the basics and I’ve now moved on to creating my own sketches and I have designed a few cool little devices for my home.I even had an issue with the included servo not fully functioning and all I had to do was email the Elegoo service department. I told them that I had a broken piece in the kit, they asked me for a few order details and sent a brand new one no other questions asked. Nive and easy, I love it!
