Work great and is an excellent value
This is an excellent little LED light. It’s so versatile because it’s small, it has a cold shoe connection, it has variable color range and brightness. It does a great job. It adds adds enough light to your subject without adding unnecessary glare. I’ve only used it for about 1 hour at a time and the battery was still strong. The materials seems sturdy. It doesn’t come with a storage bag, so for travel you may want to wrap it up in something. There’s really nothing to assemble, it works right out of the box and is very easy to use. This would make an excellent gift for anyone who likes to take pictures or videos. This is a great value.

The ULANZI VL-81 is basically a tiny, rechargeable sun you can toss in your camera bag. I grabbed this light to improve my on-the-go video and product shoots, and it hasn’t disappointed once.First off, it’s shockingly bright for something the size of a deck of cards. You can dial in the bi-color temperature from warm to cool, which saves a ton of hassle matching other light sources on set. The diffusion panel softens things nicely so you don’t nuke your subject with harsh LED glare.Battery life? For a built-in 3000mAh cell, it’s a champ. I get a couple hours on medium brightness, which is more than enough for short shoots or interviews. The magnetic mount system and cold shoe options are icing on the cake — stick it practically anywhere, and it just works. Here’s the truth you need to know on this light!
I was so nervous to buy but I took a chance and did. I received my package on the 2nd day as promised and I was not disappointed. This is the coolest light I’ve ever had. It will go perfect with my gimbal. This thing is super bright and the battery lasted 4 hours continued use. It’s the cheapest costing light but this thing puts out! I highly recommend and I will be back in a few days to post a video. So go buy it!

Not just for cameras
My camera has a flash for photos, but videos come out grainy with improper lighting. This light illuminates well and evenly making a big quality difference. The temperature adjustment goes from warm to fluorescent quality, which is appropriate to what I’m using this camera for. In addition to video (warm light), I use this light for home improvement uses (fluorescent). When mounted on a small tripod it has provided good illumination for installing appliances like over stove microwaves, dishwashers and dryers. I also used it for installation of a car stereo in an older car. The battery charges decently fast and is rated for four hours. I have never used it more than two hours in a row on high, and I still have a couple of bars of power left. I’ve had this for about 2 years now and use it a couple of hours a month.

Works well, very bright, not good for macro photography
From the perspective of it being a camera mounted light, it works exactly as expected. It’s very bright at the max setting and the temperature adjustment is a nice feature. It sits securely in the camera mount, no issues at all with shake or stability. My only gripe is related to my intended use, macro photography. Given the placement of the light relative to the lens, it projects well ahead of close objects, making it virtually useless to me as a camera-mounted macro photography light. If it had some sort of “tilt adjustment” feature allowing it to point downward, it would be perfect for my purposes. I will have to find a way to position it beside the object being photographed instead. I cannot deduct any stars for that because it’s my issue, not a problem with the light itself. It’s still relatively new but if it continues to function as is, I would highly recommend picking one up.
