Commercial Grade Switch – Use Matching Wall Plate if Color is Important
I have become a big fan of Leviton switches and outlets for the past two years because they are commercial grade. I bought this 20 AMP switch to use for the kitchen garbage disposal which is plugged into a 20 AMP circuit. The installation was simple with the wires locking positively to the terminals. There is a noticeable click, which I prefer over silent switches, when you turn on or off the switch. I would highly recommend getting Leviton brand wallplates if possible because the colors match perfectly (the switch has a VERY SLIGHT greyish tint even though the switch color is listed as white if that makes sense). They won’t match the numerous generic bright glossy white wallplates.

There some good use for these leviton rocker switches and to do the installing process it was easy to do and learn. when bringing the back side of the device to a light level it is noticeably bulkier than when compared to a single pole toggle switch. For these switches to function nice please properly have space in the wire box for everything to fit well behind the switch. The sound quality when using on and off is fine there is more of a resistance when switching between sides vs a smooth rock back and forth. but all in all this is a nice upgrade for a switch when needed in a normal one control environment with no dimming ability or extra stuff buttons just a very capable 20 amp single rocker switch.Also niche tip I would give is don’t unscrew the yellow screws completely out of there bond with the washer tab inside the switch because it will be difficult to screw back on since it will be trapped loose inside with nothing to hold the washer tab to be able to put the screw back. I had to use a needle to use as a backing while leveling and threading the screw back inside.

Works as described, needed something as low profile as possible for the location and this was better than a big red EPO which kept getting crashed into and broken but wasn’t even required by code.

The lights in my garage consume exactly 14A. The 15A breaker for its circuit is fine with this (although it hums a bit), but the 15A wall switch I had did not work well with this load: it got noticeably warm. Now that I have this 20A switch, the switch does not get warm at all.

Great product and price especially for a 20 amp switch.
