A selection of Gateron switches in a better than average acrylic “tester”
Switches can be one of the more expensive parts of your custom keyboard. And it certainly doesn’t make sense to buy 35 of them just to get a “feel” for a switch before you fill out the rest of the board. This switch tester is designed to give you a quick exposure to a bunch of Gateron switches so you can make a more educated purchase. This tester came with 20 Gateron switches in an nicely molded acrylic testing block… that tells you nothing about how the switches will sound and feel when installed in your keyboard. View it as a storage case. The selection of switches is diverse, giving a good overview of the available Gateron switches… and some that at the time of my purchase are made of Unobtanium. The Gateron Limbo switch in particular is interesting to me, but good luck finding them today. As best I can tell, they were a recolor of the Kangaroo Inks, but have been unavailable for the better part of 2 years (some vendors DO still have the Kangaroo Ink, but there is nothing that comes with the tester to indicate that the Limbo is actually the same switch or not). And frustratingly, the tester does not come with a legend. You need to print it out from the Amazon listing or trust that it will still be somewhere on the internet when you need it.The Good:- 20 Gateron switches you can try out before you commit to 70/110 switches.- Tester case is better than average. The Bad:- No legend included with the tester- Tester includes switches you cannot get in 2024, and does not indicate that some switches may be recolors of other, still available switches. The Meh:- Gateron switches look like they will interfere with Cherry keycaps in a North LED keyboard.- Testing the switches in the tester is pointless.- Switches are not necessarily in the same order as pictured in the Amazon listing.

Really great but you need to buy keycaps
I bought this because I like having something to do with my hands and it is perfect. I noticed that none of the pictures had caps on it so I found a 20pk of clear ones on Amazon and it really looks like they belong together. The switches are different enough to notice and I like the variety of linear, clicky, and tactile buttons. I ended up looking up some of these switches and I think it’s important to note that a lot of the included switches are really expensive if you’re buying this for its intended purpose of getting a mechanical keyboard haha. Also, the low profile brown one does not stay in the housing at all. I may try to superglue it but I can totally see how it goes missing in others’ packages.

Nice collection, good comparison to get a feel for what switch you want.
This thing is great to get a nice juxtaposition of switch types. I bought this for my ASMR Tik Tom obsessed pre-teen daughter but now I’m thinking I might need a mechanical keyboard as well!

Great for understanding what you like
There are too many switches! How can you even know what you might like, before you drop the case on 60-100 key switches you might hate?Buy testers! I would have never known about the marvelous Gateron Melodic switches I am typing out this missive on without this thing. I also might have dropped money on switches that basically feel and sound the same as switches I already had. This thing saved me money, and made my life nicer, at once.

Decent switch selection but needs a legend and better packaging.
The tester offers a variety of different flavor of switches. Be warned that the back of the enclosure is exposed so some pins may arrived bent. If your purpose isn’t to install into a keyboard and keep them in the enclosure, thats fine.It should also be noted that not all of the advertised switches arrived. I received some different switches, including a Kailh. The enclosure lacks a legend so, I took the time to label them in case anyone is wondering which ones are which. If it wasn’t for the couple of duds that arrived, I would have given this 3/5. If you really need a tester buy it when it goes on sale but otherwise I would pass.

Broken switches
Three of the switches have broken bottom housings. It seems like they were forced into the acrylic switch holder, which is VERY tight. Luckily, they weren’t switches I cared about. Two still work, but on one, the top and bottom housings no longer fit together.

Useful switch tester
A great, affordable tool to try out some of the most popular Gateron switches, and the housing is solid like an actual keyboard, so you have an idea of what the switches will sound like once installed. As others have mentioned, there is no guide included. Not a deal-breaker considering the key is on the product page, but having to look it up is just the smallest bit of a pain.My biggest complaint is that a few of the switches, including a couple I really liked, are hard to find (the Clickiez, for example, are limited production and I can’t seem to find them for sale anywhere online).Otherwise, a good tester and fun to mess around with.

Macht was es sollen. Schalter sortiert, wie angeben, aber die Chocolate Low Profile fehlt.

Ein Switch ist ohne Pins und einer ist ein LowProfile.Den Tester kann man sich in meinen Augen sparen.
