    Nice upgrade from a 14900KF
Fast. Seems to run nice and cool, compared to the 14900KF that I was using. My usage is primarily internet, gaming and office type apps so it is definitely much more of a CPU than I need but I will have no reason to upgrade any time soon.Benchmarks don’t show it as tremendously faster than the 14900KF, with about 10% higher in gaming frame rates on average. Temperatures are significantly cooler, topping out at 78 C after several hours of gaming (Starfield). The 14900KF would be much hotter, with the 3 fans on my AIO running at top speed to maintain 98 C.Overall, the 9950X3D uses less power while gaming, runs much cooler and is faster for what I do than the 14900KF so it has been a decent upgrade.

Unmatched Performance for Gamers and Creators.
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is a powerhouse that excels in both gaming and content creation. With 16 cores and 32 threads, it handles multitasking effortlessly. The second-generation 3D V-Cache technology, offering a total of 144MB cache, significantly boosts gaming performance, making it a top choice for enthusiasts. Its base clock of 4.3 GHz and boost up to 5.7 GHz ensure rapid processing speeds .Compared to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K, the 9950X3D delivers superior gaming performance, with up to 34% higher average frame rates in 1080p gaming benchmarks . While it has a higher TDP of 170W, efficient cooling solutions can manage this effectively. Overall, the 9950X3D offers exceptional value for those seeking top-tier performance in gaming and productivity tasks.

Very good value for a good enough workstation CPU
Top of the line CPU. For work and play provides stable and reliable performance. This CPU has the top of the line AMD Zen5 CCDs reaching the maximum frequency available for this generation.I also have the standard 9950X and that CPU has one “good” CCD @5.7 GHz and one “bad” CCD that only reaches 5.4 Ghz stable. The 9950X3D provides two good CCDs the 3D Cached one reaches 5.6 Ghz stock and the non 3D, 5.7 stock + 0.2 Ghz on PBO. It also can be safely (100% stable) undervolted by 15mV on both CCDs (maybe more if if you tune each CCD separately). The only downside of this CPUs is that you can’t reach good memory frequency if you are using 4 Dimms. Thus for intensive work that uses lot of memory this will be a small bottleneck. Maximum stable speed I was able to reach on an ASUS Strix X870E board was 5.6 MT/s with 4 Dimms even after tunning the impedances and voltages. Beware not use more than 1.2 V of VSoC as that is the maximum safe voltage for this CPU. You can eventualy reach more memory frequency with a higher VSoC but that will accelerate CPU degradation so, I don’t recommend doing it.The CPU supports a maximum of 256GB of RAM (4×64 GB DIMMs) but be advided that is only provides 2 memory channels so, that might bottleneck your performance. For a better workstation you should get a Threadripper with 4 or 8 memory channels if your budget allow it.

Best AMD 16-core AM5 CPU for gaming enthusiasts!
I was very fortunate that I was able to buy AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D for $699.99. Of course, I have to pay sales tax afterwards. But the reason why I had decided to move over from Intel Core i9-14900KS to AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D was because there are more reports that people are having system stability issue which can cause serious BSOD error. I’ve tested it myself and I can confirm that I was able to reproduce BSOD error which really drives me mad and I hate have to deal with crash, even though this was updated & flashed with the latest BIOS update. Yes, I use ASUS ROG Maximus Apex Encore Z790 Motherboard. I was very disappointed, and I even set to default settings in the BIOS, and yet my system can still crash at anytime, whether I’m browsing, gaming, and/or editing videos. Therefore, I have decided to move to AMD CPU which I’m very glad it’s working no problem. I also bought MSI MEG Godlike X870E Motherboard and had to download and update the latest BIOS from MSI website. Your mileage will vary and will always depend on your motherboard vendor.Other than that, I’m very happy with my purchase and I’m also glad that I get zero crash whatsoever. Performance was excellent, easy to overclock via PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive), supports AVX, AVX2, AVX-512 instruction-set extension, you can play around with thermal throttle temperature limit to prevent CPU overheating which I usually set to 70 degrees Celsius, very easy to install, noise level is not loud, as long as you have proper cooling solution which I use Noctua NH-D15 G2 LBC. Of course, you will need to apply thermal paste to have good contact between IHS and cooler heatsink. All in all, I’m very happy with my purchase and this was by far the best opportunity to move over from Intel to AMD platform which I understand why the vast majority of customers don’t want to spend money on Intel due to the fact that their CPU and microcode was very unstable, not reliable, nor it didn’t meet customer’s expectation! Nevertheless, AMD is the new king and yet it’s no wonder why there’s very high for Ryzen 9 9950X3D 16-core CPU for both gaming and content creation!

Reason of purchase: no compromises.Outcome: It delivered and then some.AAA games, heavy productivity apps, everything is flying at the speed of light. Compared with Ryzen 5 3600 – the upgrade is well worth the price. 3D V-Cache really helps with gaming side of things – make sure to update chipset. That guarantees the right cores are put to work where needed. Cooling with AIO does the job. No breakfast cooking here.

Playing at 1080p sure, at 4k there is no difference between this and my 14600k.
